William C. Ray

William C. "Bandit" Ray, 55, of Rocky Ridge, OH, died Friday at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Oregon, Ohio, on March 2, 1960, a son of Shirley R. & L. Irene (Wilburn) Ray. Bill was employed by Harmeyer Construction, Genoa, for several years, and while employed there, worked on the Valdez oil spill in Alaska. He also worked for Martin/Marietta in Woodville, and most recently for Graymont in Genoa. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, entertaining and grilling at his home. He was also an accomplished woodworker and refinisher. Bill was a 1979 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and was a member of the National Guard. On February 5, 1982, he married the former Diane Behlmer, and she survives. Also surviving is his mother, Irene Ray, Rocky Ridge; sons, Jeremy (Becky) Ray, Clyde, OH, and Nathan "Bubba" Ray, Rocky Ridge; siblings, Connie (Dick) Burns, Genoa, Robert (Denise) Ray, Toledo, Dick (Ronda) Ray, Graytown, Larry (Sue) Ray, Graytown, Donald (Suzie) Ray, Graytown, Rehva (Bill) Collins, Genoa, Melody (Art) Pepper, Daphne, AL, and Sherry (Bryon) Jenkins, Rocky Ridge; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kahli, Catelyn, and Caleb; mother-in-law, June Behlmer, Elliston; and his dachshunds, Queenie and Agnes. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Shirley Ray; sister, Ruth Ray Ross, and father-in-law, Raymond Behlmer, Sr. Family and friends will be welcomed at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, on Wednesday from 2-8 P.M., where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Smith will officiate, and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, OH.
