Virginia M. Brown

Virginia M. "Ginnie" Brown, 78, of LakesideMarblehead, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Commons of Providence, Sandusky, OH. She was born June 8, 1931 in Lancaster, OH, the daughter of John and Crystal (Merritt) Van Kirk. She married Robert E. Brown on March 10, 1969, and he survives. Ginnie and her husband owned and operated Channel Grove Marina in Danbury Township. Bob and Ginnie enjoyed wintering in the Florida Keys for over 35 years. She was instrumental in starting the Lake Erie Sport Fisherman Organization and was the chairperson of the Ohio Governor and Legislators Day for 18 years. She was a past member of the National Organization of Women and was a swim instructor for the Red Cross. She enjoyed boating, fishing, her three Labrador retrievers, traveling and was an avid reader. She loved shopping with her friends and family and she will be remembered fondly as a great mother, grandmother and business woman. Surviving are her husband Robert E. Brown; daughters: Vickie M. (Dan) Kukay, Anita L. (Ted) Patrick, Laura A. (D'Arcy) Brown-Egan, all of LakesideMarblehead, OH; son: Doug J. (Lori) Brown of LakesideMarblehead, OH; step-daughter: Cheryl L. Brown of Morgantown, WV; step-son Robert E. (Anne) Brown, Jr. of LakesideMarblehead, OH, sister: Patricia Wilson of Carmel, CA; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Richard S. Brown, brother John Van Kirk and sister Ruth Sayre. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 4 and 6 8 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, LakesideMarblehead, OH where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 26, 2010 with Rev. Lisa Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, Lakeside Fire and EMS or Marblehead Fire and EMS.
