Vincent Stephen Adams

Vincent Stephen Adams, 88, of Marblehead, Ohio died peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born August 1, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Stephen and Mary (Stayancho) Adams. He married Nancy Ann Hurd on October 16, 1954, and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2015. He graduated from Lakeside High School in 1948 and retired from General Motors New Departure Hyatt, Sandusky. Vince was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a Life Member and past Commander of Stanley J. Jadwisiak, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7572, Marblehead and American Legion Post 83, Sandusky. He belonged to the VFW firing squad and participated in military honor services for Post 7572. Afterward, he would meticulously clean and store the rifles for the squad. Vince was a faithful life member of St. Joseph Church, Marblehead. Surviving are his children: Kimberly "Kimmer" (Steven) Watts, Commerce, Michigan, Timothy "Pugs" (Jodi) Adams, Lori (the late J. Michael) Fletcher and Amy Adams, all of Marblehead; grandchildren: Hillary (Daric) McCoy, Rebecca (Robert) Contreras, Timothy Adams, Jr., Lee Fletcher, John "J.V." (Halsey) Fletcher and Taylor Fletcher; five great-granddaughters: Magdalena, Sofia, Faye, Presley and Frances; brother: James (Marcia) Adams, Marblehead. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Nancy, son: Jeffrey Adams, son-in-law: Mike Fletcher, sister: Janet Skipka, infant sister: Barbra, and sister-in-law: Margaret Adams. Vince enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan, and could also be seen at almost every Danbury Laker football and basketball game. In his younger years he participated in golf, bowling, and softball leagues. Later in life he traded those sports for euchre, dart ball, and bingo at the Danbury Senior Center, spending time there with family, friends and neighbors. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating and life along the shores of Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie. "Big Vince" was always up for a party, festival or wedding. He could jitterbug with the best and never missed an opportunity to dance a rousing polka. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. On Friday, October 19, 2018, additional visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, from 9 am until A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with Father Jim Brown officiating. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Honor Flight Services, Springfield, Ohio or to Stain Hospice, Sandusky.
