The Rev. Ralph E. Yoss

Reverend Ralph E. Yoss, 75, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on June 5, 1934 in Woodsfield, Ohio, the son of Charles and Lucille (Horen) Yoss. He graduated from Woodsfield High School, went on to college at Ohio Wesleyan, and then graduated with a PHD from The Ohio State University. Ralph was the Director/Coordinator of Family and Children First Council of the Ottawa County Job and Family Services since 2001, and also a minister at Gypsum Community Church in Gypsum, OH. He was a member of the tuesday morning men's prayer breakfast group who met at Trinity Methodist Church every week. He was a spiritually strong and optimistic person who always tried to think positive and overcome the difficulties in life. He enjoyed helping people and lived life to the fullest. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, but most importantly, he loved his family. Survivors include his wife: Olena whom he married on April 14, 2007; daughters: Jane (Ray) Hobson, of Jeromesville, OH; Kate (Brad) Long, of Ashland, OH; Julia Yoss, at home; son: Charles (Anna) Yoss, of Dayton, OH; Five grandchildren and a sister: Susie Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 9-11 AM at the Gypsum Community Church, Gypsum, OH when funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Reverend Greg Dziak officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gypsum Community Church or in care of the family.
