Susan Sarnes Schlipf

Susan Sarnes Schlipf, 83, of Rocky Ridge, Ohio, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was born on February 15, 1925, a daughter of Fred & Laura (Lindsey) Sarnes. Susan was a hardworking wife and mother, and was an employee of the former Erie Army Depot. She also worked at the former VanAtta's Restaurant in Oak Harbor and at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Genoa Care Center, and Riverview Industries. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, Susan was also active in the Portage Valley Flying Club. She was a former member of the Rocky Ridge Fire Department Fire Lassies and the Order of the Eastern Star. On December 9, 1943, she married William Schlipf, and he survives. Also surviving is her son, Dennis Schlipf, Millbury, Ohio; daughter, Beverly (William) Kaiser, Graytown, Ohio; brother, Jack Sarnes, Missouri; sisters, Violet Thone, Elmore, Ohio, Betty (Bob) Geldien, Genoa, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Vera Sarnes, Oak Harbor. Susan is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Schlipf, Kelly Meek, Tracy (Brooke) Schlipf, Lori Schlipf, Sarah (Joe) Sawdy, Shanna (Brian) Ninke, Jennifer (Brandon Schwind) Kaiser, and Jill Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Cole Kaiser, Benjamin Jensen, and Kendall Sawdy; and step great-grandchildren, Derik Hurley, Danielle Hurley, and Laura Hurley. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Schlipf; brothers, Harley, Barley, and Alvin (Abe) Sarnes; and sisters, Gladys Below, Helen Beach-Sinkus, and Dorothy Ireland-Dyke. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Susan's great-nephew, Dan Bostater will officiate, and interment will be in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, Ohio.
