Shirley M. West

Shirley M. West, 88, of Sun City Center, FL, died June 11, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born on May 29, 1922, in Hamilton, Ontario. On June 28, 1941, Shirley married Edgar L. West, and they lived in the Detroit, Michigan area where they raised their eight children before moving to Bowling Green, OH. She enjoyed her later years in Florida. Shirley was an avid golfer, loved bowling, cards, dancing, cooking, and had a wonderful soprano voice that she shared with many church choirs. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family. Shirley loved life, loved her family, had a sharp wit, and a fierce determination that sustained her through many hard times. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Ed, and their son, John D. West; her brother, William (Billy) Saunders, Reginald Sigman, and sister, Ann Balbo. Shirley is survived by her sons, Gary D. West, Oak Harbor, WA, Butch West, Santa Clarita, CA, Edgar H. West, Tampa, FL, and daughters, Linda D. West Barringer, Farmington Hills, MI, Penny F. West Brim, Grand Haven, MI, Kathy West Druckenmiller, Oak Harbor, OH, Elizabeth West Kollar, Bowling Green, OH; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many to come. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Hope Lutheran Church, 13507 Cloverdale Road, Bowling Green, OH, with the Revs. Jon Bell, and Melanie Haack officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the church. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Troy, MI. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hope Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, is handling arrangements for the family.
