Rose A. Zura

Rose A. Zura, 84, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born on February 12, 1931 in San Nicola di Crissa, Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Vito and Isabella (Marchese) Malfara. On October 18, 1969 she married William "John" Zura and he survives. Rose first began her working career as a laborer in manufacturing at Philco in Sandusky, and then worked many years in food service at Casa Roma in Marblehead and finally at the Danbury Local school cafeteria, where she retired in 1993. She was a lifelong member and devote Catholic at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and the Outreach Committee. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of other people as she always put others needs before her own. Her family was very important to her, especially her husband, daughter, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, John; daughter: Linda (Paulsen) Cooper, Baytown, Texas; grandchildren: Christina (Robert) Butcher, David (Heather) Workman; great-grandchildren: Thomas and Cooper Butcher, Isabella, Lexy, and Parker Workman; sister-in-law: Dorothy Malfara, Marblehead; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Joseph Malfara, Dominic Malfara; sister-in-law: Marjorie "Marge" Malfara; and son-in-law: Gary Cooper. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, where members of the Altar-Rosary Society will pray the Rosary at 7:30pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 9am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury Food Pantry, or to the Dominican Sisters, 1257 E.
