Ronald A. Windisch

Ronald A. Windisch, 85, of Mesa, AZ, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Friendship Village, Tempe, AZ. Ron was born November 7, 1929 in Lacarne, Ohio. He was the third born child of Harold & Ivadelle (Zoschske) Windisch. He grew up in Lacarne and went to schools in that area graduating in 1947 from Salem Oak Harbor High School. He married Reta Dewitz on September 10, 1950 and they had two sons, Don and Bob. He farmed for several years and then worked in the boat building industry for four years. He then worked in Toledo in the construction and remodeling industry. In 1970, he moved his family to Casa Grande, Arizona to improve Reta's health. He continued in construction and real estate which culminated in building a home and an apartment complex in Casa Grande which he and Reta managed through their retirement. Ron and Reta also built a vacation home in Flagstaff, Arizona and one for his mother-in-law, Betty Dewitz, in Oak Harbor, Ohio. After traveling extensively in their motor home, they settled in Leisure World in Mesa, Arizona in the mid-1990's. They were active in the Superstition Springs Kiwanis Organization for many years. Ron also had been an active member of the Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge prior to his move to Arizona. He always liked to visit with family and strangers alike. He always was there to help family with remodeling and building projects. He is survived by his wife Reta, his only surviving brother Walt (Doris) Windisch, son Don (Lariat) Windisch, son Bob (Judy) Windisch, 4 grandchildren, Shawn, Esther, Kyle and Matthew, and 2 great-grandchildren, Ryne and Edward. Reta is currently residing at 2645 E. Southern Avenue #A-361, Tempe, AZ 85282. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice of the Valley; a memorial has been established in Ron's name and can be accessed at www.HOV.org/donations.
