Robert "Mike" M. Hensel

Robert M. "Mike" Hensel, 67 of Elmore, OH died Friday, October 1, 2010 unexpectedly at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born October 11, 1942 in Toledo, OH to the late Robert W. and Wilma (Ferris) Hensel- VanHorn. On June 18, 1966 he married the former Shirley Longenecker and she survives. "Fireball" retired from Chrysler, Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, OH in January of 1998. He was US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore. He also had memberships in: Genoa Masonic Lodge #433, Zenobia Shrine, Ottawa County Shrine Club and Roadrunner, Valley of Toledo Scottish Rite, Royal Arch Masons, Elmore American Legion Post #279, Oak Harbor VFW Post #8732, Perrysburg #446 OES and Antique Auto Racing Association. Mike enjoyed Racing both sprint cars and his vintage midget race car. He also enjoyed camping, reading, and was a WW II History Buff. He really loved spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife Shirley of Elmore, sons Bob (Gina) Hensel of Milford, OH and Troy (Mindy) Hensel of Elmore; grandchildren Faith, Jack, and Evan. He is also survived by many cousins. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8pm and again Tuesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore- Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. SR. 51, Elmore. Masonic Services will be held Tuesday at 6:30pm by the Genoa Masonic Lodge. Funeral Services will be 11 am Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore where the family will receive friends 1 hour prior with the Rev. William Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to either St. John' United Church of Christ or Shriners Hospitals.
