Robert A. Turner, 85, of Lakeside, Ohio, died Friday February 16, 2007 at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born December 24, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Allen and Jeanette Turner. In 1945, he married Mildred Turner who preceded him in death on April 14, 2000. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He owned a tire dealership in Akron, Ohio for many years and when he retired, he sold boats for several area brokers. He was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church, the Port Clinton Power Squadron; permanent member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary; 32 degree mason and Shriner, member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Port Clinton Kiwanis Club, a charter member of Firelands Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and elder, and a former zoning inspector for Danbury Township and a member of the Danbury Township Zoning Board of Appeals. Surviving are his daughters, Nancy E. Berry of Marblehead, OH and Susan (Brian) Kruse of Midland, MI; grandchildren, Melissa (Brett) Berry-Fries of Huron, OH, Andrew (Alexandra) Berry of London, England, John Kruse of Irpin, WI., and James Kruse and Laura Kruse of Midland; great grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, Elizabeth and Addison Fries of Huron; his special dog, Hailey, and a brother in law, Dr. Charles White. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, his parents, and a sister, Nancy White. The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. Monday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead and from 10 A.M. Tuesday until the time of services at 11 A.M.. Tuesday at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave., Lakeside. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Phelps will officiate, and interment will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice or the Lakeside United Methodist Church.
