Reverend Edmund A. Jadwisiak

Reverend Edmund A. Jadwisiak, 89, of Port Clinton, Ohio, retired Byzantine Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Parma, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on August 3, 1925 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of the late Anthony and Katherine (Bojarski) Jadwisiak. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1943, entered the Navy and served his country during World War II, went on to study at Bowling Green State University following World War II, and was employed by Vita-Plate Battery, Inc. He then attended Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On November 18, 1979 at the age of 53, he was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Parma, Ohio by The Most Rev. Emil J. Mihalik, D.D., Bishop of the Byzantine Rite, Diocese of Parma. He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Marblehead, as well as a lifelong member of the Stanley Jadwisiak Veterans of Foreign War Post 7572 in Marblehead. Survivors include his sister: Stella Evanczuk, of Port Clinton, Ohio; brothers: Thaddeus Jadwisiak, of St. Louisville, Ohio and Casimir "Ki" (Helen) Jadwisiak, of Port Clinton, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Chester, Stanley, John, Adolph, and Henry. Visitation will be held both days at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 506 E. Main Street, Marblehead, Ohio. On Tuesday, June 30, 2015, visitation will be held from 5-7pm. At 7pm, the service for a Priest, of the First Evening will held at the church. On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, additional visitation will be held from 4-7pm in the church. At 7pm, the service for a Priest, for the Second Evening will be taken. The Office of Christian Burial for a Priest will be on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10am at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church with Bishop John Kudrick and Right Reverend Mitred Archpriest John Kachuba, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Marblehead, where members of the Stanley Jadwisiak VFW Post 7572 will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for masses to be said in his memory.
