Rev. Keith Davis

Rev. Keith Davis, 87, of Pemberville, Ohio, and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Pastor Davis was born in Wayne, Ohio on April 16, 1927, a son of Clifford & Hazel (Benschoter) Davis. His father died while Keith was an infant, and he grew up helping his mother and siblings on their farm, and selling the produce they raised. He also worked as a salesman for Firestone Tires and was a Fuller Brush representative. Keith received his schooling for his pastoral work from Huntington University, and his B.A. in Education from Bowling Green State University. He was a United Brethren pastor for 52 years, serving churches in Mermil, Bucyrus, Smithville, Bowling Green, North Baltimore, Fostoria, and Bethel United Brethren Church, Elmore, where he served 25 years and remained a member. Keith was also a middle and elementary school teacher for 22 years, serving at Eastwood Schools and Fremont City Schools. Pastor Davis greatly enjoyed fishing and camping, especially at Ludington(MI) State Park. He also was a horticulturalist, raising vintage roses at his rural Elmore home. Family was important to him, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. On November 25, 1952, Keith married the former Edna G. Keeran, and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2011, after nearly 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Gail (Steve) Alberts, Miriam (Douglas) Martin, Keith (Amanda) Davis, and Sharon Davis; grandchildren, Christina LaMunyon, Elizabeth Jefferson, Isaac Martin, Amanda Geiser, Andhra Norman, Kendra Hartenstein, Morgan Murphy, Brittany Yost, and Gunnar Davis; 5 great-grandchildren; and his twin brother, Seth Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Paul Davis; and sisters, June Bomer and Dorothy Reynolds. The family will receive friends from 1-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Bethel United Brethren Church, 2920 S. S.R. 590, Elmore. Pastor Tim Sherman will officiate, and interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wayne, Ohio. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund of Otterbein/Portage Valley, or the Cherry Street Mission.
