Paul Robert Blum, 86, of Elmore, Ohio, died Tuesday at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. He was born Toledo, Ohio on April 8, 1921, a son of Paul M. & Evelyn (Sanders) Blum. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, Bob served in Okinawa and Korea during World War II. He was an installer for the former Western Electric and retired as an engineer from AT&T. Bob was a 1955 graduate of the University of Toledo, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion. On September 25, 1953, he married the former Mary Ellen Picard, and she survives. Also surviving are his sisters, Virginia Dutcher, Temperance, MI, Joanne LaCourse, Marilyn (Joe) Daly, Janet (Eugene) Schacht, and Rosemary Dixon, all of Oregon, Ohio; and brothers, George (Marge) Blum, and Norman Blum, both of Oregon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James, Norbert, and Donald Blum. Private interment services will be held at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore. Crosser Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Bob's family. Memorial contributions may be made to Harris-Elmore E.M.S. or the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
