Paul L. Hnatiak

Paul Hnatiak, Jr., 88, of Marblehead, OH, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at his home. He was born August 25, 1918 in Parma, OH and had resided in Marblehead for the past 46 years. Paul served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II as an Aircraft Mechanic and was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton, Florida. In the 1950’s he owned and operated Parma Auto Body in Parma. When he moved to Marblehead, he was the owner and operator of Lands End Marina for 46 years. Later he worked as an independent automobile tool salesperson in the Erie County area. He enjoyed fishing and boating. He is survived by his son, Steven M. Hnatiak of Akron, OH; daughter, Janet S. Akosi of Vermilion, OH; 3 grandchildren, and sisters, Anne Kwasny and Julia Pleva, both of Parma. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Julia (nee Mokriy) in 1997, parents Paul and Anastasia Hnatiak, Sr., and brother, Michael Hnatiak. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, OH. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Neidecker-LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. The Rev. Basil Hutsko, pastor of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Marblehead, will officiate, and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marblehead where the VFW Post # 7572 of Marblehead will conduct military honors.
