Mary Jo Monak

Mary Jo Monak, 81, of Port Clinton, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH. She was born July 7, 1929 the daughter of the late Fred and Laverne (Burns) Sauvey. She married Richard W. Riedmaier, Sr. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1958. She married Mel Monak on July 1, 1961 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1998. Mary Jo was a registered nurse graduating from Providence School of Nursing. She worked for H.B. Magruder Hospital, Dr. Gordon Ley and retired from Riverview Nursing Home. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She especially loved her family and friends and caring for others. Surviving are her son: Richard (Julie) Riedmaier of Port Clinton; daughters: Christine (Riedmaier) Pluckhorn of Port Clinton, Monica Monak of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Zachary, Eric and Kaitlin Riedmaier, Michaeleen (Pluckhorn) Jessee, Mary Kate and Clare Pluckhorn and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers: Jack and Buddy Sauvey, sisters: Ethyl Goretzkie, Vivian Sauvey, Wilma Sauvey, Marcella Piechocki and Joan Geisman; and son-in-law Mike Pluckhorn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Visitation will be held Monday from 2:00 � 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Stein Hospice.
