Marian J. "Monie" Griesser

Marian J. "Monie" Griesser, 100, of Marblehead, OH, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born in Marblehead on March 25, 1915, a daughter of Frank & Anna (Adams) Ontko. Monie was a waitress at the former Kukay's Restaurant in Marblehead and also worked for the former Neumann Boat Line in Marblehead and Kelleys Island. She enjoyed sports, especially NBA basketball, and exercised before it was fashionable. Monie also loved to read and bake, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marblehead, and the Altar-Rosary Society of the church. On November 3, 1936, she married Daniel J. Griesser, and he preceded her in death on August 10, 1993. Surviving are her daughters, Paula (Robert) Fairfield, Florida, Carolyn Gast, Marblehead, and Kathleen (Dominick) Yovino, Florida; grandchildren, Wendy Fairfield, Matt (Mariska) Fairfield, Brad (Suzanne) Fairfield, Joe (Lori) Gast, Heidi Gast, Holly (John Starcher) Gast, Pete Gast, and Joe (Kirsten) Yovino; great-grandchildren, David Gast, Connor, Daniel, Ian, Finn, Kyra, Nora, Taki Fairfield, and Cass Yovino. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Bange, Daniel, Bill, and Al Ontko; sisters, Nettie Fish, Anna Dziak, Mag Ringholz, Josephine Stocks, Pauline Chagnon, Dolores Strickler, and Eulalis Walliser; son-in-law, David Gast, and Grandson, Chris Gast. Friends may call from 3-7 P.M. Wednesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, where the Altar-Rosary Society will conduct a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Rev. Jim Brown will officiate, and interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
