Margaret "Midge" Williams

June 8, 1923 — December 15, 2015

Margaret "Midge" Williams, 92, died December 15, 2015 at her daughter's home in Virginia. Midge grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Michigan. Midge taught in various elementary schools in the Farmington Public School District for 18 years. Midge was married to John Williams for 51 years, John died in 2001. They lived in the Birmingham, Michigan area for thirty five years. After they retired John and Midge traveled throughout the country for a number of years. They spent their summers at their beloved family cottage on Lake Erie near Oak Harbor, Ohio. Midge loved entertaining family and friends at her homes in Florida and Ohio. She is survived by her children: Ann, David and Gale, and Martha Williams Locke (John); her grandchildren; Emily Williams, Allison and Justin Dean, Chris Williams, Nick Williams; LTJG. John Locke, Shelby Locke, Christian Locke, and her great granddaughter Cora Dean; her brother William (Barb) Birkett and various nieces and nephews and friends. Her parents Harry and Peg Birkett, and her grandson John G. Williams III, predeceased her. Private interment will be at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 214 E. Second St., (corner of Second & Jefferson Sts.) Port Clinton, OH, with the Rev. Anthony D. Setley officiating. Following the service, Midge's family will receive friends in the Guild Hall of the church.
