Margaret L. Spangler, 90, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at her home. She was born in Oak Harbor on August 15, 1920, a daughter of the late Dr. Carl M. & Irma L. (Hillman) Schaaf. On October 25, 1941, she married James W. Spangler, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1997. Margaret was a homemaker and worked at the former Erie Army Depot during World War II. She also worked in the offices at Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor, for several years. She was a precinct worker for the Ottawa County Board of Elections and was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, where she was a former member of the Altar Guild. Margaret was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She is survived by her sons, David (Sue) Spangler, Portland, OR, Thomas (Karla) Spangler, Oak Harbor, and Richard (Wendy) Spangler, Oak Harbor; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marianne R. Scherf. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Friday. The Rev. Keith A. Hunsinger will officiate, and interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. A luncheon will be served at the church following the services.
