Lyle R. Hasselbach, 82, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Thursday morning at the Ohio Veteran’s Home, Sandusky, OH. He was born in Rice Township, Sandusky County on December 4, 1924, a son of the late Arthur F. & Clara (Nieman) Hasselbach. A lifelong farmer, Lyle also was a milk hauler for Sunshine Biscuit for 17 years, an employee of Brush Wellman, Inc. for 7 years, and retired from Acme Cleveland Distribution Center, where he had worked for 15 years. A 1943 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A ball cap collector, Lyle enjoyed tinkering around his farm, hunting, and traveling with the Oak Harbor Group. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, and was a life member of V.F.W. Post #8732, Oak Harbor. On August 25, 1951, he married the former Eileen Schutte at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Connie (Dan) Hill, Fremont, OH; grandson, Derek Hill; sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Haynes, Oak Harbor, and Margaret (Carl) Miller, Fremont, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Don, Dale, and Wayne Hasselbach. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
