Louise J. Matta, 88, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. She was born on January 4, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky. On August 19, 1950 she married John J. Matta and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2004. Louise was a graduate of Mercy Nursing School in Toledo, Ohio, where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, and at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky until she retired. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. She enjoyed being out on Lake Erie and was a Licensed Lake Erie Charter Captain; a member of Dan Galvencia's LECBA Walleye Tournament championship team; original member of Erie Dearie Fishing Team; Founding member and Secretary of the Lake Erie Charter Boat Association; member of the Sandusky Plant Ford Salaried Retirement Group; and a member of TOPS and KOPS. Louise was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved by everyone who met her. Survivors include her children: Mike Matta; Dave (Laura) Matta; Barb (Jeff) Rohrbacher; and Diann Correll; grandchildren: Steve (Maxine) Matta, Meghen Matta, Kiel Rohrbacher, Kevin Rohrbacher, Jackie (Matt) Genuit, Scott (Janel) Bush; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Jeffery Matta; and grandson, Kurt Rohrbacher. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 2-4 and 5-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the funeral home with Father John C. Missler officiating. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, Ohio. All are invited to celebrate Louise's life after the committal ceremony. The celebration of life luncheon will be held at the Catawba Community Hall at 1pm.
