Katherine "Katie" L. Binkley, 83, of Marblehead, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by family at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. Born June 11, 1941, in Uhrichsville to Charles and Eileen (Jackson) Binkley, Katie lived her life on her own terms—with a sharp mind and a quicker wit.
Katie was a proud graduate of Uhrichsville High School and was an involved alumni. She made history as one of the first female Industrial Electricians at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky where she retired from.
Katie was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury. She loved quilting, knitting and sewing and was a member of the Knit Wits and Pins & Needles groups. Known as ‘Grandma Katie’ to students, she spent many hours volunteering at Danbury Schools both tutoring and photographing sports events.
Katie is survived by her children: Portland Scott, Charles (Ruth) Scott, and Stacey Manuella, all of Marblehead. Her grandchildren—Casie (Spencer) Eller, Hannah (Andrew) Turinsky, Vincent (Olivia) Manuella, Morgan Terry, Katie (Tyrus) Coleman, Dominic (Mya) Manuella, and Luco Manuella. Her ultimate joy was being “Aye-Aye” to her great-grandchildren— Isla, Logan, Emerson, Addie, Charlie, Cora, Brody, Ava, Tucker, Oliver, Nico and Aria. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice (John) Szymialis and Nancy Charnock of New Philadelphia, OH.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 PM at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Paul Bailie.
