Joseph R. Hoffman

Joseph R. Hoffman, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Joseph and Helen (Powers) Hoffman. He married Patricia Petersen on November 8, 1985 and she survives. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a supervisor at Uniroyal, worked at the Eckrich Plant in Fremont until they closed, and worked at Silgan Plastics in Port Clinton until his retirement. After he retired, he delivered newspapers to area stores. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton and member of the Port Clinton Moose Lodge #1610. He was an avid Chicago Sports Fan, so much that his friends called him "Chicago Joe". He also enjoyed watching all types of movies. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; sons, Michael Hoffman, Huron, Ohio and LTC Joseph (Dr. Eliane Herdani) Hoffman, Germany; daughter, Kelly Frument, Bulgaria; granddaughters, Amber and Bridgett Hoffman; five great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Morrissey, Chicago, IL, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Walker. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 10 am until Funeral Services at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or to the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
