Joann E. Taylor

JoAnn E. Taylor, 82, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Fremont Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Ohio. She was born on April 16, 1932 in Ashland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Phillip and Dorothy Belle (Miller) Flickinger. She graduated from Loudenville High School in 1950 and worked as a secretary at the Ohio Grease Company in Loudenville. She married Gaylord Taylor on September 1, 1950 and he survives. In 1951 JoAnn and Gaylord moved to Marblehead to raise their family. Once her children were in school, she went to work at Biro Manufacturing in Marblehead and then for the Ottawa County Department of Human Services until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Marblehead where she was very active in her church. She was also a girl scout leader in Marblehead. Survivors include her husband: Gaylord; daughters: Gayla Jo Taylor, of Marblehead and Crystal (Greg) Dashiell, of Madison, Indiana; grandchildren: Nicole Freeman, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Ross (Destinee) Freeman, of Bellevue, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister: Barbara Halblaub and brother: Harold "Tom" Flickinger. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4-7pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the First United Church of Christ, 802 Prairie, Marblehead, from 10am until Funeral Services at 11am with Reverend Dr. Kay Mooney Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
