Jerry Kuras

Gerald C. "Jerry" Kuras, 77, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 with his family by his side and along with the caring hands of Stein Hospice. He was born on November 11, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Clemens and Stephanie (Kaczala) Kuras. During his working career, he built White Caps Motels with his father Clem and ran it with his ex-wife, Janice (Warren) Kuras. Later he started a business with his son, Jeff Kuras, J & J Construction in Port Clinton, Ohio, and then moved on to Gordon Lumber where he later retired. Jerry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton; an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy; member of Christ Renews His Parish; member of bible studies, attended church weekly and was a devout Catholic. He also gave money to the homeless people on the street. He volunteered at Our Lady of the Pines in Fremont, Ohio for their big fundraiser, a Gourmet Dinner. His passions in life were fishing, hunting, wood carving, his beloved chocolate Labrador Retrievers, but most of all, his strong Catholic Faith. His faith is what brought him such comfort in the end of this life. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. Survivors include his former wife, Janice (Warren) Kuras, Port Clinton; children, Joy (Kuras) Nystrom, Port Clinton and Jeffrey (Suzanne) Kuras, Port Clinton; grandchildren, Shaun (Lori) Nystrom, Amanda Kuras, Justin Kuras, Beau (Johanna) Nystrom; his most cherished buddies of all, his great-grandsons, Shane and Hunter Nystrom; and sister, Dorothy Wilczynski, Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sylvia Bielicki. Per Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 8:30-10:30am at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John Missler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School, Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center, Humane Society of Ottawa County, or to the Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
