Jeffery L. Meinke

Jeffery L. Meinke, 64, of Port Clinton, OH, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 at his residence after a short illness. He was born September 20, 1942 in Gypsum, OH, a son of Leland and Evelyn (Benore) Meinke. Jeff served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1968 doing a tour of duty in Vietnam. He later worked for the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, from where he retired in 2004. He was a member of the VFW Post 2480 of Port Clinton and the American Legion of Sandusky. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed breeding and raising Labrador retrievers. Surviving is his son, Lee (Jennifer) Meinke of Port Clinton; daughter, Shannon (Antonio) Hand of Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Emma and Connor Hand and Brandon and Erin Smith; brother, Henry “Sonny” (Pat) Meinke of Lincoln, NB; and sisters, Cindy (Mike) Ference of San Antonio, TX, Karen Williams of Scottsdale, AZ and longtime friend of the family, Becky Buchanan of Toledo; five nephews and two nieces and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Heidi, his parents, and a sister Sandy Meinke. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home of Sandusky or the VFW Post 2480 of Port Clinton.
