Jack C. Carsten, 78, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on March 28, 1930, in Port Clinton, the son of the late Eugene "Peno" and Maibelle (Schroeder) Carsten. He married Linda Kaiser on April 3, 1976 and she preceded him in death on September 7, 2005. He was an United States Army veteran, having served his country during the Korean War. Jack was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Port Clinton Street Department until he retired on July 31, 1996. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island, where he was active in church activities. He was a member of Port Clinton VFW post #2480; member of Port Clinton Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1610; and the Port Clinton AMVETS. His hobbies included fishing and traveling. Survivors include his daughter: Renee Clark, Findlay, OH; sons: Robert Carsten, Marion, OH and Keith Carsten, Findlay, OH; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Virginia (Petersen) Carsten; second wife: Linda (Kaiser) Carsten; and sister: Margaret Wesley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 from 10-11 AM with funeral services to be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Reverend Kurt Borows, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery with military honors being given by members of Port Clinton VFW post #2480. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County; Stein Hospice or to Resurrection Lutheran Church.
