Helen T. Smidutz, 89, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at her residence. She was born July 28, 1925 in Gypsum, Ohio, the daughter of August and Kathryn (Glowacki) Sarty. She married Donald A. Smidutz on Dec. 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2007. Don and Helen owned and operated "Dairy Isle" for eight years becoming known for their "Seven Hot Dogs for a Dollar". They also ran Don's Drive-In in Fremont for three years and she worked in the Dietary Dept. at Magruder Hospital for 10 years until her retirement. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan who never missed watching a game. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, playing bingo and an occasional trip to a casino. Surviving are her daughter: Joann Adams of Port Clinton; grandsons: Joe (Catherine) Adams of Oak Harbor, Jeff (Melisa) Adams of Oak Harbor, Troy (Sonya) Binder of Fremont, Chris (Rebecca) Binder of Clyde; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Wanda Short of Port Clinton, Betty (Robert) Wood of Port Clinton; brother: August (Jane) Sarty of Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Barbara Binder, sons-in-law: David Binder and Steve Adams; great-grandson: Steven Adams and brother: Eugene Sarty. In keeping with Helen's wishes there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
