Gerald A. Miller

Gerald A. Miller, 86, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born on June 8, 1930 in Bellevue, Ohio, the son of the late Roman and Laura (Bauman) Miller. On November 23, 1950 he married Bettie Lou Tiffany and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2005. Growing up as a young boy, Jerry's family owned the property around the Sorrowful Mother of Shrine in Bellevue where they had their family farm with livestock and crops. When Jerry wasn't helping on the farm, he had to get permission to leave school to go and help the nuns at the Order of the Precious Blood. He also served as an altar boy at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Marywood. Jerry worked as a foreman and supervisor at both the Logan and Bellevue General Electric Companies for over 40 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton; member of the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus Lodge #1750 where he was a 4th Degree Knight; and past scout master of the Fremont Sacred Heart Troop #304. He loved listening to the radio, especially to the station WSPD, where his interest in music and dancing was born. He played the steel guitar and sang. His other hobbies included boating, camping, fishing, playing pinocle, but most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Catherine (Scott) Heschel, Middleburg, Pennsylvania; sons, Ron (Cate) Miller, Atlanta, Georgia, Jeffrey (Robin) Miller, Fremont, Ohio, Larry Joe (Kathy) Miller, Gibsonburg, Ohio; significant other, Jan Russell; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Lippert, Adrienne (Michael) LaBarge, Jeremiah (Nikki) Miller, David (Melanie) Miller, Roxanne (Kaleb) Drew, Lily (Scott) Edwards, Jenny Rose, and Angela Roll; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy Miller, Bellevue; and sisters, Rose Acree, Tiffin, Ohio and Marlene "Tottie" Didion, Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his parent, his wife, and a brother, Roman Miller, Jr. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 2-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton where members of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 6-8pm and where members of the Altar Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 7:30pm. On Saturday, August 6, 2016, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 8:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton with Father James Peiffer officiating. A light luncheon will be held in the parish gym immediately following the service. Graveside services and burial will be held at 12:30pm at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 1793 W. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Stein Hospice; or to the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus.
