George O. Snider, Sr., 86, of Port Clinton, died Friday November 23, 2007 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon. He was born July 11, 1921 in Marblehead, the son of Clayton and Eva (Sauvey) Snider. On May 2, 1970 he married Madelyn Butchko and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2003. George was retired from the marina business. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Marblehead. Surviving are his daughter, Lynne (James) Wittman of Graytown; grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Wittman of Port Clinton, Amy (Ken) DeVault of Graytown and Angela Dunfee of Pennsylvania; great grandchildren, Jamie and Reilly Wittman, Morgan and Samantha Miller, Charles Hursey and Michael, Taylor and Miranda Dunfee. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter, Mira Agnew, brothers Leo and Millard Snider and sisters, Lucille Thompson and Delores Snyder. Private burial was held. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1 at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church or the Donor’s choice. The Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Marblehead has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring nurses and physicians at SCMH and Genoa Care Center. Their compassion and support given to George and his family was very much appreciated.
