Gaylord Sheets Taylor, 95 of Marblehead, OH passed away July 4, 2025. He was born June 9, 1930 in Ashland Co. Ohio the son of the late Mason and Rachael (Sheets) Taylor. He attended Loudonville High School until joining the Army in 1946. He married JoAnn Flickinger in 1950 and they lived in Mansfield until they followed JoAnn’s family to Marblehead where Gaylord worked with his brother-in-law in construction until he was hired at New Departure as a tool and die maker, where he worked for 40 years until retirement. Gaylord loved the lake and owned a Lyman boat for all of his life. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, water skiing and taking boat trips to the Islands. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cribbage and card games. After retiring he and JoAnn spent winters in St. Petersburg, FL and later Naples, FL. He and JoAnn were members of First United Church of Christ, Congregational in Marblehead, where he served on church council and the building & grounds committee for many years.
Surviving are his daughters: Gayla Jo Taylor of Marblehead, Crystal (Greg) Dashiell of Marblehead; granddaughter: Nicole (James) Freeman-Reeder of Lawrence, KS; grandson: Ross (Chelsea Molyet) of Fremont; great-granddaughters: Braelyn Freeman, Madelyn Reeder and Charleigh Jo Molyet; sisters-in-law: Janice Taylor of Loudonville, Nancy Taylor of Wooster, OH and Jane Taylor of Greenwich, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Samuel, Mason, John, Alfred, Ralph and Charles; sisters: Elenora Snyder and Mary Ellen Algire. Gaylord will be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at First United Church of Christ, Congregational, 802 Prairie St. Marblehead, OH with additional visitation at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Twp. Expressions of sympathy may be given to First United Church of Christ, Congregational.
