Eunice M Phillabaum

Eunice M. Phillabaum, 91, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, with her family by her side. She was born on May 1, 1918 in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Lang) Smith. She married Francis W. Phillabaum in 1935 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1982. Eunice began her working career as a laborer at Fremont Oil, and later at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton. She also worked as a seamstress at the Fremont Seat Cover Plant in Fremont, Ohio. She then became the owner/operator of the "Golden Surf" beauty salon in Port Clinton where she worked as a beautician. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton. She was very gifted in music, playing the piano, organ, mandolin, guitar, violin and accordion. In her younger years, her sister and her traveled on the Chippewa Boat out of Sandusky which traveled to New York, playing music with the accordion and mandolin. She was an avid painter and bowler. Survivors include her sons: Maynard Phillabaum and Gary (Barb) Phillabaum, both of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Jamie Seabrecht, Volitta (Rob) Mossberg, Diane (Michael) Heinze, John Phillabaum, Leah Phillabaum, Quinten Phillabaum, Lisa Phillabaum, Cary Phillabaum; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister: LaVerne Ruthsatz, of Bradenton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 9:15 AM at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton with Reverend John C. Missler officiating.
