Edith L Rothenbuhler

Edith Lorena Rothenbuhler, 64 of Lakeside-Marblehead, crossed over Monday, February 23, 2009, at Magruder Hospital. Edith was born on October 9, 1944, to the late Samuel and Virginia (Wehneman) Whitman, in Piqua, OH. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Maumee Valley School of Nursing, and the Toledo University/Medical College of Ohio. A life-long RN, Edith worked at Maumee Valley Hospital, Toledo Hospital, St.Luke's Hospital and Magruder Hospital. She also taught nursing at Owens Community College, worked at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, and was a Parish Nurse serving the Lakeside Association. She married Marvin Rothenbuhler on March 29, 1969. They raised two children in Maumee and later relocated to the Marblehead Peninsula, where they ran a bed-and-breakfast, Rothenbuhler's Guest House, for 25 years, in Lakeside. While living in Lakeside, Edith was active in the community, serving on the Lakeside Association Board of Trustees from 1986 to 1994. She also assisted for many years with the Lakeside Prayer Breakfast. She had a special love for cats, and also enjoyed needlework, gardening, music, reading, and winter trips to Florida. She is survived by her husband, Marvin, their son Rick (Shelly) Rothenbuhler, of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, and daughter Lorena (Kent) Schloneger, of Orrville, OH, grandchildren Josh and Ethan Rothenbuhler, and Anna, Ben, and Laura Schloneger. Also surviving is Edith's Aunt Dorothy (Bill) Flick, of Piqua, OH, sister-in-law Anne (Richard) Doerfler, of Toledo, OH, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and the family's "big brown beautiful dog" Kobe. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Lakeside Fire Department Rescue Squad and the Emergency Room staff at Magruder Hospital. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 East Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Friends may also call from 1 pm Friday until the time of services at 2 pm at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Danbury. The Rev. Chris Young and Rev. Larry Houff will officiate. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the LakesideVolunteer Fire Department or to the Lakeside Association's Chaplain's Fund.
