Delbert C. Long, 81, of Port Clinton, Ohio, died Friday, February 8, 2008 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born September 8, 1926 in Port Clinton, a son of the late Ray & Anna (Drickhammer) Long. He married Kathleen Cooley on April 25, 1953 and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2001. Mr. Long worked at Standard Products for 48 years, retiring in 1991. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Long was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton; Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2295, Port Clinton, and was a life member of Homer D. Gardner Post #2480, Veterans of Foreign , Port Clinton. Surviving is his son, Dennis Long of Romano, OK; daughters, Linda (Tom) Jennings of Port Clinton, and Cindy Conner of Port Clinton; brother, Milton Long of Port Clinton; sister, Clara Bell Bothe of Port Clinton; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Donald Long, and also an infant brother. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Pastor James Lehman will officiate, and interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Bay Township Fire Department or to a charity of the donor's choice.
