Darline Smith

Darline Smith, 95, of Marblehead, OH died Friday, June 11, 2010 at her residence. She was born March 27, 1915 in Gibson City, IL the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Jennings) Ashby. She married Lawrence M. Smith on April 12, 1941 and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1977. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, especially pies for Peninsula Restaurant, friends and neighbors. She volunteered for Mobile Meals, Red Cross Blood Mobile and the election board. She enjoyed playing cards at the Danbury Senior center until she could no longer drive. She was a long time member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Marblehead, OH and a previous member of the Standard Products Club. Surviving are her daughters: Cheryl D. Smith of Marblehead, Marcia (Chuck) Gunnoe of Ocala, FL; grandson: Charles S. Sanchez of Fremont; great-granddaughter: Alyssa C. Sanchez and sister: Dorothy L. DeGroff of Valparaiso, IN. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside--Marblehead, OH where visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 until the time of the service.
