Charles R. Schaus

Charles R. “Bob” Schaus, 85, of Lakeside, Ohio died Monday, October 1, 2007 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born on September 24, 1922, in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of the late Charles and Maude (Crocroft) Schaus. He married Rosemary Brown on February 14, 1948, and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served as a pilot during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, OH. He retired as a coal inspector for the Consolidation Coal Company of Cleveland, and had previously worked at the Sandusky Docks, the Philadelphia Ore Docks and Merchants Accounting. Bob remained active and helpful to others until the end and enjoyed visiting with his many dear friends on his porch at Lakeside. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; daughters, Barbara (Bill) Healy, Oregon, OH; Kathleen Schaus (Buck Locke), Oregon, OH; and Nancy (Steve) Turnow, Curtice, OH; grandchildren, Bob (Angela) Healy, Megan (Josh) Beebe, Craig (Kaley) Turnow, Tiffany (Memo) Hernandez, Analisa Turnow, and Morgan Turnow; nephew, Bob (RuthAnn) Schaus, Salt Lake City, Utah; and his canine companion, “CoCo”. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Burton Schaus. Private graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead is handling arrangements for the family.
