Charles Gwyn Taylor, Jr.

Charles Gwyn Taylor, Jr. 86, of Marblehead, OH and formerly of Chesterland, OH died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, OH. He was born Jan 26, 1928 in Gary, WV the son of Charles G. and Carrie Cleo (Rose) Taylor, Sr. He married Kay F. Collier on July 30, 1949 and she survives. Mr. Taylor was a sales rep. for Wolverine World Wide/Hush Puppies Shoes retiring in 1990. He was a consummate salesman. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Port Clinton and Bay Pointe Yacht Club where he was the Flag Officer. He was an avid boater and family man with a great sense of humor who loved to travel, especially in the car. Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years Kay; daughters: Judy K. (Richard) Kroll of Jacksonville, FL, Gail (Tom) Mercer of Bowling Green, OH; son: Charles G. (Tekla) Taylor III of Conifer, CO; grandchildren: Christopher Kroll, Michael Mercer and Michelle Mercer. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Elizabeth Nelson and Helen Ostanek. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Port Clinton, OH where visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village, OH at 3:30 pm Tuesday. Father Stephen Sedgwick will be officiating.
