Charles A. Heck, 84, of Port Clinton, OH died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. He was born September 2, 1925 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late William E. and Agnes (Caley) Heck. He married Roberta Garrison and she preceded him in death in the spring of 1972. He later married Patricia Weniger on Nov. 27, 1975 and she survives. Mr. Heck was a Bailiff and Probation Officer for Wadsworth Municipal Court in Wadsworth. After retirement he was a part time custodian for Immaculate Conception Church School, Port Clinton and also captained his own charter boat; Missy's Charter Service in Port Clinton. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1610 in Port Clinton. He loved life with a total compassion for family and friends. He was an avid fisherman, musician, a fantastic cook and a gracious host. Of all his involvements, he most beloved was with the Sisters of Mercy and becoming a Mercy Associate. Surviving are his wife: Patricia; son: Bill (Jill) Heck of Medina, OH; grandchildren: Caroline (Ted) Schleappi and Alison (Chuck) Albers; great-grandchildren Colin and Evelyn Schleappi and Tyler Albers; brother: Gene (Bettie) Heck of Amherst, OH; niece Debra Heck and great niece Caley Coleff both of Amherst; sister-in-law: Cynthia Weniger; nephew: Robert Weniger, Jr.; niece: Heather Weniger, all of Valley View, OH; and his canine companion and friend: Sparky. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and brother-in-law: Robert Weniger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 11:00 am Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 8:00 pm At Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, OH. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Lorain, OH at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Riverview Healthcare Campus for the purchase of new wheelchairs or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
