Carl W. Harden, 90, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on January 13, 1925 in McComb, Ohio, the son of the late Lancy and Flossie (Browneller) Harden. On October 6, 1962 he married Dorene Boff and she survives. Carl was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was in management at Atlas Crankshaft Corporation in Fostoria until his retirement on August 1, 1982. Prior to that he spent 17 years with the Nickle Plate Railroad. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton; past commander of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Findlay, Ohio; was a safe boating instructor for the Coast Guard Auxiliary; past commodore at the Catawba West Harbor Yacht Club, Gem Beach; and after retirement he managed the Port Clinton Elks Lodge 1718. He was a 53 year member of the American Legion, life member of the Elks, VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and playing golf; spent winters in Sebring Florida with Dorene from 1983-2010. He was a hard-working man, and enjoyed having fun with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic sports fan Go Bucks! Surviving are his wife: Dorene; son: James C. Harden of Bascom, OH; daughters: Jeanette C. Harden (Robert) Beamer of Port Clinton and Florida, Kim Sendelbach (Kirk) Harmon of Akron, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tammy, Taige "T. J. ", Danielle, and Jennifer; 12 dearly beloved great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Lowell B. Harden and sister: Elizabeth Pracht. Visitation will be Monday, June 8, 2015 from 9:30 am until 12:00 noon at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, OH where prayer services will begin at 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 12:30 pm Monday, June 8, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Brick n' Mortar Fund at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 414 Madison St. Port Clinton, OH 43452 or the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
