Betty Walbolt Jackson died December 2, 2008 at the age of 90 at Avalon Otterbein at Perrysburg. She was born April 19, 1918 in Waterville, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Farnsworth) Walbolt. She graduated from the Ohio State University in 1940 and taught Home Economics in West Unity, Swanton and the Toledo Public Schools. From 1944-46, Betty served with the American Red Cross overseas as a club director of the ARC Service Men's Club in India along the Burma Road and at Agra, India. In 1946 she was married to Willis E. Jackson and lived in south Toledo for 30 years before moving to Lakeside. She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, president of the United Methodist Women, active in Girl Scouts, PTA and Mother's Club, and a life long member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She also was an English as a second language tutor. After moving to Lakeside, she became a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, was a member of the Noon-Day Club; Antiquarians, Lakeside Women's Club and tutored and Danbury School. She resided at Otterbein Northshore for ten years. Surviving are daughters Janet H. Cellio (James) of Perrysburg; Anne Jackson-Fowler (Randall) of Northwood; son Dan W. Jackson (Susan) of Louisville, Colorado; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren ; brother Grant S. Walbolt and a sister Alice Night. Her husband, parents, brother David and a grandchild preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am Saturday until the time of services at 11:30 Saturday December 6 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 East Harbor Road, Marblehead. Private burial will take place in Grelton Cemetery, Grelton, Ohio. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeside United Methodist Church or the Otterbein Northshore Development Fund.
