October 11, 2007 has marked the end of a generation with the passing of Anna Elizabeth (Gresh Fitzthum. Anna was born April 15, 1915 to the late Mary (Brenza) Gresh and John B Gresh Sr., and was a life long resident of the peninsula. Anna was a sister to six brothers and two sisters. Her brothers, John Jr, George, Steven, Michael, Joseph, Peter, and two infant sisters have all preceded her in death. Anna attended Danbury Lakeside High School, graduating in 1935. She also attended Bowling Green State University. She was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society , Catholic Ladies of Columbia, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Anna was employed for several years at Standard Products, Port Clinton. She retired from New Departure Hyatt, General Motors, Sandusky, following 25 plus years of service. Anna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles (Carl) Frederick Fitzthum, on October 25th 1941. Carl preceded her in death on December 6, 1985. Anna and Carl were the proud parents of two daughters, Carol Dunfee(Warren) of Overland Park, Kansas and Mary Ann Bentley of the Danbury Township area, each of whom will remain eternally grateful for a wonderful upbringing by wonderful parents. Anna is further survived by two grandchildren. Carla Ann Bently a member of the United States Army currently serving in Kuwait, and John David Bentley of the Danbury Township area, who will have fond memories of their grandmother. She is also survived by great granddaughters, Khelci Radloff & Daisy Blair, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 15, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 East Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. A Mass of Christian Burial for Anna E. Fitzthum will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, where additional visitation will be held from 10-10:30 A.M. Rev. Fr. Daniel J. Ring will officiate and interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marblehead Fire Department, Lakeside Fire Department, or to Stein Hospice.
