Angela E. Brindley

Angela E. Brindley, 97, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Monday, May 30, 2016. She was born in Salem Township, Ottawa County, on April 21, 1919, a daughter of Oliver & Alta (McCarron) Deal. Angela was a 24 year employee of the former GTE in Port Clinton, Ohio, where she was a telephone operator, instructor, and supervisor, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Salem Township. In March of this year, Angela was thrilled to receive a visit from Ronald McDonald, courtesy of the Oak Harbor McDonalds, where she got a sausage, egg & cheese McMuffin nearly every day. 13 News from Toledo covered the event, which added to her excitement. On July 31, 1937, she married Clifford C. Brindley, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1987. Angela is survived by her children, Sandra Sorkan, Whitewater, WI, DeeWayne C. (Nola) Brindley, Oak Harbor, and Marcia Biers, Saunderstown, RI; brother, Russell Deal, and sister, Jane Davenport. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tyrone W. "Butch" Brindley; brothers, Stanley, Beryl, Paul, and Oliver Deal; sisters, Florence Schmidt, Altha Schiller, Harriet Snow, Georgiana Green, Patsy Nelson, and Bessie Nagy; and a granddaughter, Sheri Sorkan Grenz. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Salem Township Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with Pastor Cheryl Wessel officiating.
