Alfred F. Ottney

Alfred F. Ottney, 87, of Elmore, OH died Friday, June 10, 2016 at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born October 29, 1928 in Gibsonburg, OH to the late James N. and Anna Margaret (Driscoll) Ottney. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Briareus during World War II. On April 23, 1949 he married the former Janet M. Henderlich and she survives. Mr. Ottney retired in 1977 from Libbey- Owens Ford Glass Company, Rossford, OH. Al was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore. He also held memberships with the Merchant Marines, Union Local 9 in Toledo, and Phoenix Lodge #123 F.& A.M, Perrysburg, OH. He also enjoyed buying, selling, and tinkering with cars. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Janet Ottney of Elmore; children: Thomas (Bonny) Ottney of Martin, OH, Douglas (Mindie) Ottney of Woodville, OH, and John (Jennifer) Ottney of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Sarah Ottney, Amy Wolff, and Seth and Samantha Ottney; great-grandchildren: Aidan Corbin; and sister Dr. Ann Cain of Gibsonburg, OH. He was also preceded in death by step-mother Pauline (Rice) Ottney, step-brother Jack Vian, brothers James & Richard Ottney, and grandson Bryan Ottney. A Memorial Service will begin at 11a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore- Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. SR 51, Elmore, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. A luncheon will be served at St. John's U.C.C. Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.
