Agnes Oklee Yeckley

May 4, 1927 — August 24, 2015

Agnes Oklee Yeckley, 88, of Port Clinton Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. She was born on May 4, 1927 in Gypsum Ohio, the daughter of William and Grace (Yankee) Bailey. She married Russell "Mike" Yeckley of Vickery, Ohio on June 30, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1999. She worked for several years at the Port Clinton High School Cafeteria; Mon Ami Restaurant; and Aim Packaging Company in Erie Industrial Park. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton; the Grandmother's Club, Lake Erie Chapter #30; and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Port Clinton Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1610. Agnes was very well known for her green thumb and took great pleasure tending to her houseplants, gardening and landscaping. Survivors include her daughter: Janice (David) Latch, Frederick, Maryland; grandchildren: Donald Bennett Jr., Michael Bennett, Dale Bennett, James Spears, Jennifer Buxton, LaToya Kleinhans, Deval Lucas, Dustin Lucas, Sarah Latch; 20 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Colleen Hembree of Tennessee; and a brother: Billy Joe Bailey, of North Carolina and her roommate at Edgewood, Nannie Rollins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters: Scarlet O'Hara Bennett and Gail Lynn Smith; and sisters: June Byrd, Ramona May, Jewel Jones and Thelma Guettner. The family would like to thank the Edgewood Manor Nursing Center nurses, aids and support staff for their care of Agnes. Additional thanks to Reverend James Lehman and the volunteers from St. John Lutheran Church and Stein Hospice who ministered to her. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 10am until funeral services at noon with Rev. Karl Kessler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, to help pay for funeral expenses or contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St., Port Clinton, Ohio.
