Margaret L. Metheny

Margaret L. Metheny, 96, of Lakeside died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Community, Lakeside. She was born January 22, 1919 in Tabor, IA the daughter of the late George E. and Gracie (Morehead) DeVore. She married Rev. Ralph Metheny on June 17, 1942 and he survives and resides at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Community. Mrs. Metheny was a devoted Pastor's Wife for 40 years retiring along with her husband in 1982. She graduated from Campbell High School in Gillette, WY and then worked for the Wyoming State House as a stenographer. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY in 1944. She taught home economics in many towns including Spotted Horse, WY, York, Fremont and Sidney Schools. She also taught practical nursing at Lima Tech School. She owned her own knitting machine businessMarge's E-Z Knit and she enjoyed sailing, camping and traveling, especially to India and Europe. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband: Rev. Ralph Metheny; children: Rev. Robert (Sue) Metheny of Gibsonburg, Mark (Alice) Metheny of Shirley, MA, Philip (Sheri) Metheny of Sevierville, TN, Carol L. Metheny of Gahanna, OH; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside, OH where visitation will be held in the parlor from 9:30 until 10:45 am. Interment in Sackett Cemetery will follow the funeral service. Rev. Vern Shepherd and Rev. Robert Metheny will be officiating.
