James R. "Dickie" Kaylor

James R. "Dickie" Kaylor, 90 of Elmore, OH died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, OH. He was born October 17, 1925 in Elmore, OH to the late Lyman and Laurel (Nellis) Kaylor. He was a 1943 graduate of Harris- Elmore High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines. On October 24, 1946 he married the former Gladys M. Whitten who preceded him in death November 12, 2010. Dickie was a life-time farmer and also worked at Neeb's Garage in Elmore, Gulf Oil Refinery in Toledo, OH and Haar Excavating in Elmore. He served over 30 years for the Harris- Elmore Fire Department with many of those years as Assistant Chief. He also was proud to be a Republican and had served on the Elmore Board of Affairs. He was a member of the former Elmore Christian Church and was currently attending St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore. He also held memberships with the Port Clinton Power Squadron, American Legion Post #279 in Elmore and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his sons: Charles (Kathy) Kaylor of Martin, OH, John (Donna) Kaylor of Elmore, OH, Jeff Kaylor of Oak Harbor, OH, and David (Royan) Kaylor of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Amy, Michael, Jennifer, Jason, Kyle, Corey, and Casey; step- grandchildren: Zachary, Samuel, and Hannah; great- grandchildren: Alexandra, Arianna, Michael, Colleen, Audrey, Alaia, Avery, Aiden, Brody, Blake, Baize, Nate, Kelsey, Colt, Olivia, Estrella and Adrianna; step- great-grandchild Addelyn. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore- Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. State Route 51, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Funeral Home where additional visitation will begin an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to: American Legion Post 279, Harris- Elmore Fire Department or E.M.S., or St. John's United Church of Christ.
