Gary L. Karr, 61 of Oak Harbor, OH died Friday, February 6, 2015 at home with his family there to support him. He was born May 12, 1953 in Willard, OH to Charles "Bud" and June (Teach) Karr. He was a graduate of both Seneca East High School in 1971 and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. He proudly served his country for 22 years as a member of the United States Army and Air National Guard, retiring from the 180th Fighter Wing, Toledo, OH. Gary spent 34 years in law enforcement working on the road for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post #22 Sandusky, OH, Oak Harbor Police Department, and the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office from which he retired in 2009. He was also a range instructor for the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, member of the Ottawa County Special Response Team, instructor at Terra Sate Community College Law Enforcement Academy, and held a membership with the National Rifle Association of which he was a certified instructor. Survivors include his wife Terry (Whitlock) of Oak Harbor; father Charles "Bud" Karr of Willard, OH; daughters: Angela (Tim) Rahm, Graytown, OH, Tina (Mike) Anderson of Graytown, OH, and Tonya (Dave) Schwan of Genoa, OH; grandchildren: Olivia, Meredith, William, and Evelyn; brothers: Curtis "Butch" (Paula) Karr of Attica, OH and James "Fish" (Karen) Karr of Oak Harbor; mother and father in law Jim and Wilma Whitlock of Oak Harbor, and many other family members and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his mother June Karr in 2000. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Oak Harbor Chapel. A Memorial Service will begin at 3pm Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
